The Tangipahoa Parish Fire District board on Nov. 24 received a proposed amended budget for 2025 and a proposed operating budget for 2026 and authorized the clerk to advertise a public hearing on Dec. 22.
Unidentified Speaker (Chair) introduced the budgets and said the public hearing will be set for Dec. 22. Mister Dennis explained that state law requires the district chief administrative officer to prepare and present a proposed operating budget and any proposed amended budget for consideration. He told the board the materials in their packet show the amended 2025 figures (marked in green) and the proposed 2026 projections (marked in yellow) to allow side-by-side comparison.
A board member moved and another seconded to receive the proposed budgets and authorize advertisement for a Dec. 22 public hearing. The motion passed on a roll-call vote. Board members were told there will be additional discussion with fire chiefs before final adoption at the December meeting following the public hearing.
The board did not adopt the final 2026 budget on Nov. 24; the action taken was to receive the proposed documents and set a public hearing date as required by state law.
