Post Falls names Chris Amerman as incoming parks director; starts Dec. 15

City Administrator Shelly Underwood introduced Chris Amerman as Post Falls' selected Park and Recreation director at the Nov. 25 commission meeting, saying he will start Dec. 15.

Underwood told commissioners the city used Prothman, an external recruiting firm, to vet applicants and that panels composed of the mayor, council president, deputy city administrator, HR director and department heads interviewed finalists before recommending Amerman. "He is experienced park and rec leader with a strong record for building high quality community-focused public areas," Underwood said.

Amerman comes to Post Falls from Wilsonville, Oregon, where he serves as Park and Recreation director and earlier started his career in Roseburg, Oregon. Underwood said the city will formally introduce Amerman to the commission and staff after he arrives.

No formal vote or public objections to the hire were recorded in the meeting transcript. The commission and staff plan an internal introduction once Amerman is on board.
