Board issues proclamations for American Education Week, retired educators and names student of the month

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System board issued several recognitions during its November informal meeting, Sheila Blanco said.

Blanco said the board proclaimed the week of Nov. 17 through Nov. 20 as the observance of American Education Week in the district, calling attention to public education's role in preparing young people. The board also proclaimed Nov. 2 as Retired Educators Day and urged citizens to recognize retired educators throughout November for their lasting contributions.

Blanco announced the superintendent's October student of the month as Sulamita Cintopineda, a sixth grader at West Chatham Middle School, and offered congratulations: "Congratulations, Sulamita."
