At its Dec. 3 meeting, the Monongalia County Commission approved a set of routine and project-specific actions.
The commission voted to enter an order modifying the boundaries of the University Town Center Economic Opportunity Development District to add a parcel currently under development (noted in the meeting to include the new Raising Cane’s location near the UTC) and to remove three undeveloped tax parcels from the district. Commissioners explained the change concerns sales-tax capture for the district (dollars returned to the district) and not property-tax allocation; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The commission also approved two requisitions for UTC administrative expense funds: requisition number 112 for $3,112.50 (Municap invoice for November) and requisition number 31 for $2,737.50 (Municap invoice received in November for October services). Both requisitions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Finally, the commission voted to release RFP 2025MCCO3, “procurement tanker truck,” on behalf of the Monongalia County Volunteer Fire Companies Association. Commissioners said the volunteer association supplied specifications and the county will solicit bids to replace aging tanker trucks in the volunteer fleet; the motion to release the RFP passed by voice vote.
All actions reported in the meeting record were approved by voice vote with commissioners responding “Aye.” The commission moved on to other reports and adjourned later in the session.
