Commissioner Moe Sanchez departs Parks, Recreation and Trails Commission; city to post vacancy

Acting Mayor Bob Carwin used public comment on Dec. 4 to thank Commissioner Moe Sanchez for two years of service on the City of Menifee Parks, Recreation and Trails Commission and to note that Sanchez’s resignation makes the Dec. 4 meeting his last.

Carwin said Sanchez resigned for family and business reasons and praised his service. The Community Services director confirmed during director comments that the city clerk will post the vacancy, accept applications and that an appointment could be made at the Jan. 21 City Council meeting with the appointee likely seated by the commission’s February meeting.

Commissioners and staff thanked Sanchez for his service and noted a timeline for recruitment and appointment.

Next steps: the clerk’s office will post the vacancy and accept applications; staff expects to return to the commission with an appointment recommendation in January.
