Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana thanks Caddo Parish commissioners after feeding event

Martha Merrick, speaking for the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana during the citizens comment period, thanked Caddo Parish commissioners for their partnership on a food distribution event that, she said, fed more than 3,000 families in a single day.

Merrick told the commission the distribution provided approximately $150,000 worth of food to families, which she said amounted to enough food for 450,000 meals and had a minimum retail value of $285,000. "I am here representing the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana...we fed over 3,000 families in one day," she said, adding appreciation for the commission’s support and volunteers.

The chair and commissioners thanked Merrick and the food bank and noted the partnership and interest in future events.
