Budget committee recommends proposed 2026 parish budget for Police Jury consideration

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Budget Committee voted on Dec. 4 to recommend the parish's proposed 2026 budget for consideration at the Police Jury's regular meeting on Dec. 18, 2025.

Committee members announced a public hearing slot set for 5 p.m. and asked whether any members of the public wished to comment on the 2026 proposed budget; no one spoke. Following that, Mr. Abshire moved to recommend approval of the proposed budget and Mr. Barty seconded the motion. The committee adopted the recommendation by voice vote.

The recommendation means the proposed budget will appear on the Police Jury agenda on Dec. 18 for further consideration and any formal action at that meeting. The Budget Committee did not record any debate or amendments in the transcript of this session.
