GFL Environmental asks Linn County to consider returning hauling contract

Matt Sanders, representing GFL Environmental, addressed the Linn County commission during public comment and asked for an opportunity to provide a proposal for solid waste disposal hauling work.

Sanders acknowledged past mistakes by the company and said corporate-level turnover had affected local pricing and operations. He asked whether commissioners would be "entertained" to receive a proposal or long-term contract and offered to work with county staff to present numbers. Commissioners and staff directed Sanders to coordinate with Public Works Director Jesse Walton to gather information and bring a joint proposal back to the commission.

No formal procurement action was taken at the meeting; commissioners instructed staff to work with the interested vendor and return with any qualification or recommendation at a subsequent meeting.
