Votes at a glance: advisory committee recommends CMAR and approves invoices

Two formal committee actions were recorded at the Dec. 3 meeting.

1) Recommendation of CMAR: The committee voted unanimously to recommend Shawmut (highest‑scoring finalist) as construction manager at risk for the Woodford Middle School. That recommendation will be forwarded to the School Committee and Town Council on Dec. 15 for final approval before any contract is executed.

2) Approval of invoices: The committee approved five invoices for professional services and CIP work by voice vote. Invoices discussed included Perkins Eastman schematic design work ($47,994.30 cited for one invoice), a Perkins Eastman larger invoice item reported earlier in the meeting, Burton G. Smith ($290,336.95) and an asbestos inspection invoice to Vortex ($6,350). The committee’s updated bond workbook (maintained by Leslie) shows approximately $1,200,000 already sent to the town for payment; the five approved invoices will be added to the next workbook update.

Both votes were recorded as unanimous by voice; the advisory committee’s CMAR recommendation is advisory and requires additional votes by the School Committee and Town Council.
