At the Nov. 19 meeting, the board heard a highlight from the high school marching band. The director (named in the transcript both as 'Sean Connolly' and 'Sean Conway') described the show theme, additional performances (including a trip to Cumberland and a Youth in Music performance at U.S. Bank Stadium), and the program’s increased emphasis on visual design and choreography.
Director noted that judging uses multiple subcategories (music, visual, percussion, color guard) and gave an example of a 47 score at one show that rose after additional practice. He also described a scholarship established in memory of John Hugen administered through Youth in Music; senior Lily Schuman won the scholarship this year.
Two seniors described how leadership positions had helped their personal growth and discussed the band’s evolving production elements. Band director said the program is exploring adding a color guard and summer rehearsal options to support competitiveness.
The board thanked the students and director; the presentation was informational and celebrated student achievement and community support.
