When called to report, a district representative (addressed in the transcript as Dr. Windsor) gave an enrollment update: "Their enrollment numbers as of November 12, is 4,762 students," down slightly from the October meeting.
Dr. Windsor described an online recognition series called 'Monroe Made' that spotlights alumni. The first highlighted alumnus was Justin Moses, Sequoia High School class of 1999, a professional musician; a more recent spotlight was Nora Ann Cole, a 2006 graduate of Teleco Plains High School, who is a pilot. The presenter said the online feature has received favorable feedback and more attention than some routine announcements.
Dr. Windsor also reported that all four Monroe County high schools earned the Tennessee governor’s civic seal for prioritizing instruction in U.S. history and civic values. The transcript noted a recent joint CTE advisory meeting that included CTE teachers from Sequoia, Sweetwater and Tullico Plains high schools and industry partners; Kimberly Anderson, identified as director of Monroe County economic development in the transcript, was the keynote speaker at that meeting. The transcript also thanked veterans for school Veterans Day activities.
The board closed with a reminder about a holiday tree event Dec. 18 at Anderson Ridge Event Center.
