Nelson County rejects single bid for emergency-dispatch app, will reopen procurement

Nelson County Fiscal Court voted Dec. 2 to reject the county's only received bid for an emergency-dispatch mobile application and to restart the procurement process.

Public safety staff reported that Total Response was the lone bidder with a quoted total of $56,598 and that a 10% discount was available if ordered by year-end. After conversations with other dispatch centers and agency heads, officials told the court they identified alternative vendors and products they judged more proven and likely substantially cheaper. The court moved to reject the Total Response bid and the motion carried.

County officials said they plan to rework requirements and seek additional bids; no timeline for a new solicitation was provided in the meeting record.
