The Farmers Branch Historical Park Preservation Board voted to approve its 2023–24 slate of officers and to reschedule the October meeting.
Board members accepted a presented slate naming Misty Dewars as chair and Anne Christensen as vice chair; Jenny Welch was listed as secretary and Teresa as liaison to the Friends of the Historical Park. A motion to accept the slate was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Board members also discussed calendar conflicts and events in October, including the Bloomin' Bluegrass festival and Branch Arts Live. After hearing scheduling concerns and checking for conflicts, the board voted to move the regular October meeting originally set for Thursday, Oct. 26, to Wednesday, Oct. 25.
Why it matters: The board’s officers set meeting agendas and represent the historic-park program to the city and partner groups. Changing the meeting date is intended to avoid clashes with large community events and to maintain member attendance.
What happened next: Staff and members were instructed to note the new date on calendars and carry forward the board’s business at the revised October meeting. No further formal actions were taken on other governance items during this session.
