Board plans mission-statement review and to advance museum accreditation steps

The board agreed to revisit its mission statement and to highlight progress on the museum-accreditation STEPS program during the next biannual report.

Speaker 1 said questions arose during a recent biannual report because the board’s current materials list "becoming a fully accredited museum." Members discussed clarifying where they are in the STEPS process and presenting a concise set of accomplishments to the mayor instead of re-reading the full mission and vision statements.

Speaker 3 suggested forming a subcommittee to complete outstanding STEPS items and to brief new board members on the program and next steps. "Maybe we have to do a subcommittee or something to go ahead and finish it," Speaker 3 said. The board agreed to include STEPS progress on the agenda and to prepare a shortened, highlight-driven presentation for the mayor’s biannual session.
