The NORTH PIKE SCHOOL DIST board adjusted its calendar and voted on several procedural items before moving into executive session.
After the superintendent asked to reschedule because of travel, Speaker 2 moved to change the regular June meeting from June 6 to June 13; Speaker 4 seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
The board set the June budget hearing for fiscal year 2024–25 and, after discussion about members’ availability, amended the hearing time to 5:00 p.m. on June 20. Speaker 2 moved the hearing date and Speaker 4 seconded; the motion carried by voice vote.
Because the regular July meeting fell on July 4, the board agreed to reschedule the July meeting to July 2 and to consider adopting the budget that night. A member moved to reschedule July to July 2 at 6:00 p.m.; another member amended the motion to include budget adoption that evening and the board approved the amendment and motion.
The board also set a retreat for June 20–21 beginning at 9:00 a.m. both days to review strategic goals. The motion to set the retreat was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Finally, the board closed the regular session and, after clarifying there was no student matter present, voted to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters; the motion carried and the board entered executive session.
No formal policy or budget adoption occurred on the record at this meeting; the actions taken were scheduling and direction to staff to prepare for the hearings and votes noted above.
