Harbor Bridge project: developer reports steady progress, aims for mid‑2025 cable‑stay milestone

Representatives of the Harbor Bridge Replacement Project gave the Commissioners Court a detailed construction update April 12, outlining progress across the north and south approaches, precast fabrication in Robstown and milestones for the cable‑stay bridge.

Lynn Allison, the developer’s communications lead, said the north approach is roughly 85% complete and the south approach just over 90% complete. Crews have finished many substructure elements and are completing the last span erections with gantry cranes. The project has relocated a gantry crane to support final northern spans and finished key utility tie‑ins on North Beach; traffic switches have already opened new connections that the public will use for court and city hall access.

Allison said the Robstown precast yard is over 90% constructed and that transport of precast segments is well under way; the project has delivered roughly 1,900 approach segments so far. She described safety, DBE and women‑in‑construction initiatives, and said the project employs several hundred full‑time staff and hundreds of subcontractors, with a documented local economic impact.

On the cable‑stay span, Allison said crews poured lift 9 of 20 on the north pylon and have installed the first stay‑cable hardware; the team expects to run the first stay cable in May and to complete the middle portion of the cable‑stay span by mid‑2025. She encouraged residents to check monthly construction photos and the TxDOT district office updates for ongoing detail.

Commissioners thanked the team for the update and emphasized the need for continued outreach to rebuild public trust and to explain traffic and signage changes while the project continues.
