The Commissioner's Court approved an agreement on June 7 to accept donated road improvements from Tesla on County Roads 30, 79 and 81 adjacent to the company's facility. Public Works recommended acceptance and said county staff will oversee and monitor the construction work.
Commissioners expressed appreciation for the contribution and for Tesla’s engagement in the community. One commissioner said the donation — discussed in testimony as roughly $3.8 million worth of work — represents a ‘‘win’’ for the county and urged continued coordination on economic development and infrastructure.
Public Works said the donated work covers about three miles of county roads and that the county will coordinate inspection and oversight during construction. Commissioners noted that a separate abandonment recommendation for some county roads will come later and that construction coordination would be planned with Tesla and the county engineer.
The court voted unanimously to accept the donation and directed Public Works staff to oversee construction and return with required abandonment recommendations or additional actions when appropriate.
What happens next: Public Works will coordinate construction oversight and monitor the project as it proceeds; the court expects a follow‑up agenda item for abandonment actions and final coordination with the county engineer.
