District reports clean audit and enrollment gains; bullying prevention working group to meet Dec. 3

District administration reported a clean audit from the Carlson Group and positive enrollment news during committee reports.

Dr. Massey told board members the independent audit presented a clean opinion, with improving fund balance and positive results in the general fund, community education and food service fund. He and board members thanked the finance team for the work that produced improved fund balances.

On enrollment, Dr. Massey said the district is tracking positively as of Nov. 1, with approximately 127 students above the revenue‑budgeted number for the year. He said that while the district had encouraged open enrollment earlier in the cycle, staff are mindful of using one‑time COVID funds only for one‑time expenses and have avoided creating recurring expenses out of those funds.

Dr. Massey also summarized the bullying prevention working group's work: the group has held an initial meeting to review practices and will reconvene Dec. 3 for a second meeting and a tentative third meeting in January to gather community input. He noted the strategic planning effort is likely to move into the 2026–27 school year and described a gradual plan to standardize elementary school logos and colors to maroon and gold where maintenance cycles allow.
