Sheridan County commissioners voted Jan. 7 to approve a lessor's consent to sublease at the Sheridan County Airport, allowing Bighorn Flying Company LLC to continue using space for agricultural spray operations through 2025.
Robert Gill, the county airport manager, told the board that Bighorn Airways sold its agricultural division to Bighorn Flying Company in spring 2024 and that the two companies maintained a sublease for equipment and operations that expired Dec. 31, 2024. "Both parties have agreed to an amended sublease agreement to extend the term through 2025," Gill said, and he recommended the board approve the lessor's consent and authorize the chairman to sign the documents.
Commissioners asked whether the parties were pursuing a longer-term arrangement and noted inconsistencies in the draft amendment's dates (references to Feb. 20, 2024 and an amendment dated Jan. 1, 2025). Gill said the companies are exploring options for a permanent base and that county staff would ensure the effective dates in the paperwork are corrected. The board moved, seconded and approved the consent by voice vote and authorized signature on the associated documents.
