House adopts resolution honoring Vermont journalist Stuart Ledbetter

The Vermont House of Representatives adopted HR 15 on Feb. 6, 2024, honoring television journalist Stuart Ledbetter for four decades of reporting and public affairs work.

The resolution, read in full on the floor, traces Ledbetter's career from early work at student radio and local radio stations to television work at WPTZ, notes his role moderating the statewide program "Vermont This Week" from 2007 to 2023, and lists awards and honors including AP Broadcast Awards and induction into the Vermont Broadcasters Hall of Fame. The resolution states that Ledbetter has announced his career sign-off on Feb. 16, 2024, and that he will return later in the year to WPTZ public affairs programs as a political contributor.

Following the reading, the presiding officer put the question and the House adopted the resolution by voice vote. A member from Chittenden offered remarks congratulating Ledbetter, welcomed his colleagues from WPTZ (chief photographer Chuck King, news anchor Brian Collin, and general manager Ryan Rothstein), and thanked him for years of reporting from the State House. The clerk was directed to send a copy of HR 15 to Ledbetter and to WPTZ.

The action was ceremonial; no policy or budgetary decisions were attached to the resolution.
