The House of Representatives voted to suspend its rules and introduce 32 house bills by number only during this morning's session. The member from Pulte moved "I make a motion to suspend rules in order to introduce bills by number only." The presiding officer put the question and, after a voice vote, declared the motion adopted.
Clerks then read bill numbers H 684 through H 714 and announced committee referrals. Examples included H 684 to the Committee on Environment and Energy; H 685 and H 687 to the Committee on General and Housing; H 686 and H 694 to the Committee on Transportation; H 690 and H 696 to the Committee on Human Services; H 691 and H 695 to the Committee on Judiciary; and H 692 to the Committee on Government Operations and Military Affairs. Several bills were sent to the Committees on Ways and Means, Education, and Commerce and Economic Development as recited.
The suspensions and the by-number first readings followed the House's standard consent procedure for introductory business. No roll-call vote was recorded on the suspension motion in the transcript; the speaker declared "The ayes do have it." Members were reminded that the deadline to submit cosponsor sign-out sheets is tomorrow and that lead sponsors must sign their sheets.
Members and staff were also informed that a caucus of the whole would convene after gaveling out for mandated harassment prevention training.
The House proceeded to other announcements and ceremonial business after the bill introductions.
