The Senate Committee on Judiciary B spent part of its May 21 session on several shorter measures and amendments.
Representative Boyer presented House Bill 131 (changes to breeders awards) and the committee reported it favorably on a motion by Vice Chair Harris. House Bill 840 — which allows two members of a named board to be licensed veterinarians — was amended (amendment set 3951) to permit two veterinarians on the board; Senator Buoy recused himself from that bill’s consideration and, after amendment, the committee reported HB 840 as amended. House Bill 932 (purse transfers for Louisiana-bred horses) was reported favorably as moved.
Earlier in the hearing, the committee reported HCR 60 (a resolution to study the feasibility of mayor's court) favorably, and later adopted a technical amendment (set 3952) and reported HCR 19 (a study of the land-based casino industry’s taxation, investments and economic development) favorably as amended.
All motions on these items were adopted without recorded objections during the hearing.
What’s next: The reported bills will continue through the legislative process; HB 840’s amendment and Senator Buoy’s recusal were noted on the record.
