The Vermont Senate approved two bills on voice votes and advanced several others for further consideration.
The chamber read S159, relating to the county governance study committee, for third reading; with no amendments offered the Senate voted and the presiding officer announced the ayes had it and S159 passed. Shortly after, S285, an act relating to law enforcement interrogation policies, was read for third reading and likewise passed on a voice vote.
Separately, the Senate took up committee reports for several measures and ordered additional bills for third reading. Committee motions and floor amendments on S181 (community media fund), S195 (conditions of release), S253 (building energy codes) and S310 (natural disaster/resiliency) set the stage for extended debate and votes in subsequent sessions. The Senate recessed and later adjourned until its next scheduled floor day.
