Macon-Bibb commissioners approve liquor-license transfers, appoint Monique Davis Smith to River Ridge board

The Macon-Bibb County Commission on Tuesday voted to approve staff recommendations on two alcohol-license matters and advanced an appointment to the River Ridge Behavioral Health Community Service Board.

County staff told commissioners that Exxon Food Mart at 4290 Delwood Drive in Macon met statutory and licensing requirements for a change-of-ownership transfer. A motion to approve the transfer was seconded by Commissioner Bailey, the chair called for the voice vote, and the chair announced the motion carried.

Staff later introduced a separate convenience-store license matter for a business at 519 North Avenue (Quick Trip). Staff reported the applicant met legal and statutory requirements and recommended placing the item on the consent agenda for approval.

The commission also presented a resolution appointing Monique Davis Smith to the River Ridge Behavioral Health Community Service Board. After a motion and voice vote the chair announced the appointment was carried and placed on the consent agenda.

Legal staff reminded the commission that proof of statutory compliance should be maintained for license transfers. The record contains commissioners' clarifying questions about whether the Exxon filing represented a new license or a change in ownership; staff clarified it was a change in ownership and that standard renewal procedures apply.
