The Kalispell City Council voted to approve the final plat for Kalispell North Town Center Phases 6 and 7 and accepted a subdivision improvement agreement totaling $5,490,780.41, city staff said.
PJ Sorensen, assistant director of development services, told the council the phases cover 72.6 acres with 23 commercial lots, common area and streets, and that the city previously approved the preliminary plat under Resolution 61-68. Sorensen said infrastructure has been installed or bonded and a traffic signal included in the improvement agreement will be located just north of the cemetery.
Councilor Graham moved to approve the final plat and subdivision improvement agreement; Councilor Gabrielle seconded. Councilor Hunter said he would oppose the final plat, citing concerns about “the low-density sprawl” north of Reserve and that he has consistently voted against similar proposals. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with six members voting in favor and one opposed.
Council action follows staff recommendation that conditions from the preliminary approval have been met or adequately addressed. The council did not receive public comment during the item.
The council’s approval clears the way for final plat recording and implementation of the subdivision improvement agreement secured by a performance bond; the transcript does not specify build-out timing or individual commercial tenants.
