The Kalispell City Council unanimously approved Resolution 62-37 supporting submission of a USDOT RAISE grant application seeking $25 million to fund improvements to the Kalispell Bypass from U.S. 93 to Airport Road.
Jared Nygren, director of development services, told the council the city previously submitted a similar application and was not awarded funding. He said the RAISE application for FY2025 is due at the end of the month and that the city is seeking $25,000,000 toward a $31–$33 million total project to complete the south half of the bypass. Nygren said Flathead County is partnering on the application and will work with the Montana Department of Transportation on application preparation and future administration.
Councilor Gabrielle moved to approve Resolution 62-37; Councilor Carlson seconded and the council approved the resolution by roll call with all present voting aye.
City staff said they will provide in-kind staff time to assemble and, if awarded, administer the grant; the transcript does not specify the grant application’s full funding breakdown or project schedule.
