Jodette Stewart, who identified herself as a Rake River Regional Library staffer in Clarksdale, opened the regional report and said she distributed a library service agreement for board review.
Stewart announced a virtual regional training, “Professionalism in the Workplace,” scheduled for May 28 at 2 p.m., led by Kimberly Brown, and said Caitlin Haley would send email invitations and LibGuides registration details. She also said the region will hold a quarterly library director check‑in on May 28 from 10–11 a.m. to review statistics and trainings.
Stewart handed out a brochure for Mentor Tennessee, an online mentoring platform that pairs Tennessee library staff with peers including contacts the region kept from New Jersey. She said the program was presented at the Tennessee Library Association meeting and credited regional directors Cecilia Maynard and Jennifer Brewer with helping launch it.
On governance and professional development, Stewart reminded the board of a trustee workshop set for Sept. 19 in Brentwood and noted a technology grant application deadline of June 17. She also mentioned a Southern Library Support Staff Conference at Vanderbilt at the end of the month with panels and keynote speakers.
Why it matters: the region’s schedule and mentoring program aim to expand staff development and to standardize reporting across member libraries. Stewart invited questions and asked board members to contact regional staff if they needed clarifications or follow-up.
What’s next: Stewart said members should review the service agreement and that Caitlin Haley will circulate invitations and datasets for the director check-in.
