Representative reports 12‑year‑old shot at Lindley Middle School; student in critical condition

Representative Cummings, speaking during afternoon orders, reported that a 12‑year‑old girl shot herself in a girls' restroom at Lindley Middle School and is currently in critical condition at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Cummings said school officers and the Cobb Police responded within 60–90 seconds and that, gratefully, no other students or teachers were harmed.

"Investators do not know where this 12 year old little girl got the weapon and how she got it into school," Cummings said and asked members to observe a moment of silence and prayer for the student and her family. The representative asked Cobb delegation members to come forward and noted the incident occurred in Mableton.
