Food for Hope requests preschool field for summer concert series; board raises parking and noise concerns

Food for Hope, a Beatrice organization, has asked to use the district’s preschool upper field for a series of four Saturday food-and-music events this summer, district staff told the board. The concerts are planned for four Saturdays in June, July, August and September; staff said they have worked with the district’s insurance vendor and are awaiting a certificate of insurance before final approval.

Unidentified Speaker 1 (presenter) said staff had reviewed facility‑use logistics and confirmed the insurance vendor had been consulted; the board discussed operational questions including where attendees would park and whether the field’s residential surroundings could lead to noise complaints. One board member noted competing community events on the same nights and suggested alternative venues with more parking, such as Riverside or the Tabernacle at Chautauqua.

Board members asked for details on event timing and logistics; staff said the certificate of insurance remained the outstanding item before moving forward. No formal approval was recorded at the meeting.
