Danville board approves bundled policies, finance and personnel items and accepts $250,000 security grant

At its meeting the Danville Public Schools Board of Education approved several action items by roll-call vote, including a bundled policy approval, finance and personnel items, a principal appointment and acceptance of a federal/state grant for security equipment.

The board approved a package of policies (listed on the agenda as items 9.1 through 9.46) after a motion by Doctor Philip Campbell and a second by Mister Payne; the clerk called the roll and the board’s recorded responses were affirmative.

The revenue and expenditure statement for the month ended Nov. 30, 2024, the reappropriation (carryover) report and the report on textbooks and school nutrition funds were presented by Miss Gilles. A motion to approve the finance reports was made by Mister Payne and seconded by Mister McWilliams; the recorded vote was affirmative.

Personnel recommendations were presented and approved. Superintendent Doctor Harrison recommended Sharita Smith Williams for principal of Arnett Hills; a motion to approve the appointment was made by Doctor Campbell and seconded by Mister McWilliams. The board voted to approve the appointment on the record.

The board also voted to receive a $250,000 grant from the BDOE to fund camera solutions at Woodbury and Park Avenue; that motion was moved by Doctor Campbell and seconded by Mister McWilliams and passed on the roll call.

Several routine motions and a short recess were taken at the end of the meeting. No controversial or dissenting recorded votes appeared in the roll calls included in the transcript.
