Roseville honored long-serving government-relations administrator Mark Walensky at a Jan. 15 special City Council workshop where the council read a resolution commending his 25 years of service and thanking him for his role in securing federal and state support for local projects.
The resolution, read during the workshop, lists highlights staff attributed to Walensky's tenure, including recovery of redevelopment funding and work with federal partners to secure earmarks and regulatory changes that benefited the city. Councilmembers, partner agency staff and representatives from state and federal legislative offices offered public remarks, framed as personal thanks and professional recognition.
Walensky accepted the appreciation with a brief statement, saying he was grateful for the opportunity to serve, praising the staff and the council for their support and noting he plans to remain engaged in public affairs in a new phase of his life. Several visiting staffers from members of Congress and state legislators presented certificates or read congratulatory resolutions.
Mayor Briscoe closed the workshop noting the recognition and said a group photo and further appreciation would follow before the council's regular meeting. No formal recorded vote on the retirement resolution was included in the workshop transcript; staff said the resolution and related materials would be part of the council's records.
"We appreciate you. We're going to miss you, but we wish you a fond farewell," Mayor Briscoe said as the council concluded remarks.
