The Redondo Beach Youth Commission heard updates on subcommittees, outreach for a teen survey and progress on the city's teen center. Staff said the teen-survey questionnaire has been finalized, will be uploaded with a QR-code flyer and shared via Instagram (@rbparksandrec) and student email distribution; staff expected to have preliminary data by the commission's next meeting.
Staff also reported that interior construction and renovations for the teen center are continuing, that furnishings have been purchased or are being purchased, and that the commission will schedule subcommittee meetings to decide amenities and programming. A youth commissioner suggested the event subcommittee consider organizing a citywide youth entrepreneur fair modeled on the Seahawk marketplace for elementary through high-school participants.
A representative of the North Redondo Beach Business Association (NRBBA) offered to connect commissioners with Robin Garfield, who has sponsored Makers Fairs in local schools, and the chair asked that the contact/email be referred to the event subcommittee; staff confirmed they would handle the referral. Commissioners had no formal vote on funding or programming at this meeting.
