Committee refers senior ARPA review resolution back to sponsor

The Everett City Council Committee of Ways and Means on Monday referred a resolution from Councilor Joe Heein that would analyze the city’s senior-targeted ARPA spending back to its sponsor for further information.

Committee members said the resolution, which the chair described as the third meeting on the subject, required additional material from the city chief financial officer before the committee could act. With the sponsor absent, a committee member moved to refer the matter back to the sponsor so outstanding questions could be answered; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.

The referral does not change the resolution’s text but pauses committee consideration until the sponsor returns with the requested CFO responses. The resolution’s stated purpose is to “determine and analyze the ongoing project of senior ARPA” to ensure the funds are being spent appropriately and effectively, according to the committee introduction.

The committee did not set a date to reconvene the item during the meeting. The next procedural step is for the sponsor to provide the CFO information and, if appropriate, reintroduce the resolution to the committee for further review.
