Everett committee tables petition asking state to require towing companies to accept credit cards

Members said the sponsor intended to consult towing companies and traffic staff before the committee proceeds.

During discussion, members noted they had expected a Department of Public Utilities response but did not have one on file. One councilor suggested laying the item on the table until the next legislative‑affairs meeting so the sponsor could confer with towing companies and appropriate traffic staff. The committee voted to lay the item over to the next Legislative Affairs meeting by voice vote.

The committee did not adopt a substantive change to policy; instead, it postponed further consideration to allow for additional stakeholder input and staff participation.
