The Perkiomen Valley School District board voted to approve Arthur Mitchell as the recommended candidate for assistant to the superintendent for K–12 educational leadership.
Mr. Moran introduced Mitchell’s candidacy, detailing a career that began in high school science teaching and moved into administrative leadership and the nonprofit sector. According to the introduction, Mitchell "currently serves as the executive director and co‑founder of STEM Equity Alliance" and has worked on curriculum, instruction, professional development and equity in STEM. The introduction also listed Mitchell’s academic credentials: a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Howard University, a master’s in education from Temple University, and a K–12 administrator certification from Gwynedd Mercy College.
Board members voted on the administrative appointment as part of personnel item 7.12; the motion passed by voice vote and the president welcomed Mitchell to the district. Following the vote, board members expressed appreciation for accepting the role and noted they looked forward to his work with students and staff.
