La Grange swears in new police chief, appoints finance director and honors firefighters

The Village of La Grange held several personnel actions and recognitions at its meeting. Timothy Griffin was formally sworn in as the village’s police chief; President Mark Kuchler introduced Griffin’s background, noting his service as deputy chief in Mount Prospect, FBI National Academy graduation and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership. Clerk Saladino administered the oath.

Later the board moved to appoint Susan Micah as the village’s budget officer/collector/controller/treasurer and finance director following a competitive recruitment; Trustee Gail moved the appointment, Trustee McGee seconded and the motion carried unanimously by roll call. Micah briefly recited the oath of office before the board.

The board also recognized firefighter-paramedics Boles and Findez for completing their probationary periods. Fire Chief Norvellas described the department’s rigorous probation process and presented new black helmet shields to replace probationary orange shields.

President Kuchler welcomed the new appointees and thanked the Griffin and Micah families for attending the meeting.
