Committee hears field‑lighting and park security update, keeps switch location for now

The Public Works Director reported that crews have completed significant trenching and laid conduit for new athletic-field lighting and that a 500‑foot waterline is being installed to service creek‑bank bathrooms.

During the update the director (Speaker 6) said crews had borrowed equipment from the water department, are short‑staffed, and expect to finish major trenching within a week if weather permits. Committee members raised two operational concerns: where to place the new light switch to prevent unauthorized night use and how to secure parking areas from vehicles driving onto field areas.

After discussing keyed switches, timers and camera coverage the committee agreed to defer changing the physical switch location. Speaker 3 moved to leave the switch “as it is” and said the board could return later to evaluate keyed or timed options; the motion was seconded and approved.

Other park operational items: members discussed porta‑potty placement and liability for damage if vehicles access fenced work areas, and asked staff to consider permit or reservation systems for late‑night or special uses. The director also said a new camera system purchase order is in process and installation will follow vendor scheduling.
