Committee presses contractor permits, inspection and cleanup status for courthouse work

Members updated the committee on ongoing courthouse cleanup and finishing work and expressed concern that some trades may have completed work without pulling required permits.

One participant said inspections had been requested and that, "They didn't pull a permit," and members discussed the liability risk if work is accepted without proper permits and inspection. Staff reported an inspector had walked through months earlier and the contractor said a permit was not required; the committee instructed Brandon O'Bare to act as the county's liaison to ensure permits are pulled and inspections scheduled.

The committee also discussed scheduling a walkthrough for commissioners and the need to engage a professional cleaning crew to remove dust and complete final preparations before occupancy. Several members said they expected to sign off in June but noted outstanding questions about permits and inspection records.

Next steps: Brandon (O'Bare) to coordinate permit pull and inspection scheduling and staff will arrange a commissioners' walkthrough prior to final acceptance.
