Aging committee advances conceptual bills for public hearings, holds one item

The Aging Committee of the 2025 Legislature CT voted to raise a package of conceptual bills for public hearings and scheduled tentative hearings for Feb. 4 and Feb. 6.

Senator Wong said she would support the concepts "in a voice vote, hopefully," but asked that the committee receive the actual bill language before public hearings so there is "greater transparency and accountability" and an opportunity for public comment. Representative Belansweid told the committee the concepts had come through aging-committee membership, committee work or trusted advocates and said each deserved consideration in a public hearing.

The chair read the items to be raised — items 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 — and noted that item 4 was being held. Senator Wong moved to raise those items; the motion was seconded (identified in the transcript as Rep. Nolan). The committee conducted a voice vote and the chair declared the motion carried.

The committee confirmed item 4 will be held and announced tentative public hearings for Tuesday, Feb. 4, and Thursday, Feb. 6. The committee recessed until either the Senate or House went into session.
