FCCLA state advisers and student officers tout record membership and national success

Brittney Phillips, state adviser for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and three state student officers told the board that Oklahoma’s FCCLA program reached record membership and continues to win at the national level.

Phillips said Oklahoma FCCLA achieved its largest membership in the organization’s 78-year history and highlighted programs that serve middle-level through postsecondary students. She introduced student officers who described membership campaigns and leadership initiatives: Ava Jenkins said a membership campaign helped grow state membership from roughly 17,300 to more than 20,000; Tessa Edmond described a content-creator team to boost member engagement on social platforms; and Brandon Weibel noted renewed district-officer Zoom calls to keep the program connected across regions.

The board heard that Oklahoma FCCLA brought home multiple national championships last year and will send several hundred students to the National Leadership Conference in Seattle. The state leadership conference and state convention are scheduled later this spring; Phillips invited board members to the April 11 state convention at the Cox Convention Center in Tulsa.

Superintendent Walters and board members praised the students’ presentations and thanked advisors for supporting youth leadership within CareerTech.
