The Oklahoma CareerTech board moved into an executive session to conduct the annual performance review of State Director Brent Hakan. A motion and second to enter executive session passed on roll call; the board asked the agency attorney to remain and indicated Director Hakan would be invited back into the session at a point during the review.
After the closed portion, the board returned to open session and described the review as a 10‑month evaluation. “There was no motion or nothing passed during the executive session portion,” a board member said on reconvening. Board members said they will keep an evaluation sheet for internal use, share it with other board members and consider another executive session in December to finalize the review.
Separately, the board resolved an earlier procedural issue about approving the Oct. 19, 2023 minutes. An initial motion to approve the minutes produced an abstention; after the abstention the board agreed to move for reconsideration. The motion to reconsider passed on a subsequent roll call and the main motion to approve the minutes passed by roll call (the chair noted a five‑member quorum was required and met for the vote).
No employment action, contract award or other binding decision was reported from the executive session at the time the board returned to open session; the board set a future date for follow-up discussion.
