Resident proposes 'realign and repurpose' facilities plan claiming $6 million savings

At the Feb. 26 Penn School District board meeting, resident Shannon Naylor presented a facilities alternative she called a "realign and repurpose" plan: build a new high school, convert Emmaus High School to a junior high for grades 79, reconfigure the middle schools, and shift elementary schools to K.

Naylor argued the plan would reduce cost and disruption by concentrating new construction at one site. "You save the $6,000,000 in repairs and expansions to the middle schools," she said, adding that consolidating construction would prevent widespread disruption to student learning across multiple buildings.
