Superintendent Dr. Campbell introduced student recognitions during the March 11 meeting, highlighting Emmaus High senior Kyle Moore as the state champion in the long jump and noting his outdoor mark of 24 feet, 10.25 inches as an Emmaus and Lehigh Valley record. Campbell invited Moore and coaching staff for recognition and presented a small certificate with the board president.
The superintendent also noted other winter and spring athletic qualifiers and participants: PIAA first-round basketball teams, a freshman wrestler advancing to regionals, and numerous swimmers who qualified for the state meet at Bucknell University this week. He additionally listed students advancing to State History Day and LCTI students qualifying for DECA events.
Separately, Campbell recognized two district teachers who will retire at the end of the school year: Mrs. O'Hara (a math teacher at Emmaus High with 25 years in education, 19 at Emmaus) and Mr. Schreiner (a Health/Wellness and driver's education teacher at Lower Macungie Middle School with 32 years in education).
