East Penn SD trims proposed tax‑rate increase to 4.2% ahead of June vote

District administration told the East Penn School District Board on May 13 that revisions to wages, insurance and fringe benefits have reduced the previously proposed tax‑rate increase from 5% to 4.2%.

"There have been a number of updates in the areas of wages, insurances, and other fringe benefits that have allowed us to lower the tax rate increase from the 5% that was approved in the proposed final budget to a rate currently of 4.2%," said Mr. Saul during a brief budget update. Dr. Campbell reminded the board that the budget is a developing process and that the board will vote on a final budget at the June 10 meeting.

Administrators said they will continue to evaluate revenue and expenditure areas ahead of the final vote. Board members thanked administration for continued efforts to refine revenues and expenditures.
