Committee directs HR to advertise deputy superintendent of public works vacancy and approves code updates

The committee approved motions directing the human-resources director to advertise the vacant deputy superintendent of public works position using an updated job description and to request the City Council adopt corresponding municipal-code revisions.

Clerk Vincent circulated a redline job description prepared with input from the city’s HR director and the public-works superintendent that updates language to reflect current practice, clarifies responsibilities (including snow-management oversight, work with contractors and state and federal grants, and assistance with budget development) and replaces 'town' language with 'city' where appropriate.

A councilor asked whether the civil-engineering-degree requirement in the job description was new; the committee chair stated the requirement was not redlined and indicated it had been part of the original specification. Committee members voted to advertise the position and to submit the proposed code change for council action.
