The Woburn Conservation Commission used its March 21 meeting to schedule near-term site visits, discuss enforcement at a private property, and review community programs.
Chair reported unauthorized tree removal at 10 Karen Road and said the homeowner was told to stop. Staff indicated an RDA filing for that address is anticipated and the commission agreed to inspect the site. Commissioners set Sunday morning, April 7, at 9 a.m. as a tentative date to visit 10 Karen, with a subsequent visit planned for 78 Lowell Street once the filing is received and confirmed.
Commissioners also reviewed Conservation Day logistics: the Lions club will attend and provide cooking, and earlier site walks and coordination with schools and volunteer groups were reported. Commissioner remarks noted outreach to Northeast Metro Tech (Bob Jepsen) about bridge repair or replacement; the vocational program may assist with design and labor if materials are supplied.
The commission discussed a proposed expansion of a tree program (a commissioner described being "very nervous" about a 60% increase) and praised staff and local media outreach; staff will continue recruitment and logistical planning.
