The Woburn City Planning Board accepted an additional $21,600 in surety for the 24 Flake Street subdivision and approved an extension of the construction completion deadline to November 24, 2024, after hearing a staff update on outstanding work.
Planning staff told the board the engineering department estimated a total surety of approximately $60,000 would be needed to guarantee completion; the board previously held $44,400 and the developer delivered $21,600 to cover the difference. Staff also confirmed two trees removed from disturbed locations will be replaced with agreed species and locations.
"Earlier this week, [the developer] had a check dropped off in the amount of $21,600," the planning director said, explaining the additional deposit and recommending acceptance in exchange for the extension of the completion date. The board moved to accept the recommendation, the motion was seconded, and members voted in favor.
The board recorded the action as acceptance of additional surety and extension to November 24, 2024; staff will continue to monitor completion items and enforce the terms of the surety until work is finished.
