The Unionville-Chadds Ford board on June 17 approved several curriculum items that district leaders said align with course revisions and the district's Portrait of a Graduate.
The board approved the AP Environmental Science textbook and a five-year digital license for $11,779.74 after prior presentation at May meetings and a month of community review. Board members said the AP course continues to grow in student interest.
Directors also approved eighth-grade English selections including Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 and the graphic‑novel edition; that package had been presented by teacher leaders and again at the work session. Administrators said the selections were recommended following course revisions to better match student needs.
Finally, the board adopted the 2024–2029 curriculum cycle. The plan narrows annual review to one core item per year and schedules an early repeat review of English language arts to deepen work on structured literacy and potential elementary-level resource adjustments. Administration said additional optional texts for grades 9–12 will be made available for public review and brought back to the board in August for a formal vote on additions.
All curriculum motions passed by voice vote.
