The Clay County Board of County Commissioners voted Sept. 27 to adopt the final millage rates for fiscal year 2022–23 and to approve the county’s $702,827,040 budget.
County staff presented Truth‑in‑Millage figures showing an aggregate millage rate of 8.3427 mills, up from the rolled‑back rate of 7.5632 mills — a 10.31% increase. The board held the statutorily required second public hearing on the tentative budget and then conducted roll‑call votes to adopt separate resolutions setting the final millage and the final budget, including the Lake Asbury MSBU budget of $1,441,300.
Commissioners thanked staff for the work compiling the budget and noted the process included coordination across constitutional offices and department heads. The board approved both resolutions by the recorded votes called during the public hearing.
The budget documents and adopted millage rates will be published on the county website and are effective for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2022.
