The Charles Harbor and Sherman Oaks District board on March 25 approved two procurement items authorizing the executive director to accept the lowest responsive bids from Alfred Palma LLC.
For agenda item 2024-013, staff recommended accepting Alfred Palma LLC’s base bid of $1,024,000 for refurbishment of the Petcoke Terminal Conveyor at BT1. Staff said the bid arrived slightly below the engineering estimate of $1.1 million, only one bid was received, and the refurbishment will provide redundancy, enable use of both ship loaders and allow the terminal to handle additional commodities.
On agenda item 2024-015, staff asked the board to accept Alfred Palma LLC’s low bid of $761,000 for VT1 dock modifications needed to install tie-downs for two new ship loaders (staff said one loader was expected to arrive in about two weeks). Staff reported two bids were received on that solicitation and Alfred Palma was the low bidder.
Both items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said the work is intended to restore conveyor capability at BT1 and to prepare VT1 for the upcoming ship loader installations; no contract award documents or performance deadlines were read into the record at the meeting.
